Hanse, far along in his development and skill, wielding his ultimate weapon. I have no name for it... do ya wish to help me name it?
From start to end this really took 3 hours. 2 and a half hours for the lines and color, 30-40 minutes for the shading and background.

Some back story to this pic: It came as a surprise to Hanse to witness his father's Katana shatter against the human spellblader Jolun Sunder. The sight of his broken blade wrought a terrible feeling of dishonor within Hanse's heart. Although he managed to defeat the Spellblade with a Wakizashi to the throat (nobody knows if Hanse beheaded the spellblade), he contemplated returning home with the bad news of this dishonor. Hanse had promised to return with not only his clothes in prime condition, but his father's swords as well. Before Hanse returns home his companion, Kiba, convinced him to embark on one more adventure. They raided an ancient tomb and bypassed all traps and beasts and recovered the treasure... a finely preserved blue blade with an edge so sharp it cut through stone. The sword was terribly large compared to Hanse, in fact he deducted it was a blade made for humans but it was light enough that he could use it deftly, even one handed. He still felt a pang of disgrace in his heart even after this marvelous find, but soon enough he'd return home and beg for forgiveness. In the end he did receive said forgiveness though had a bit of spite laid on him. His father lectured him on how it is honorable to use the weapon for so long... but it was foolish to only use it for such a long time. So Hanse learned a new lesson that day. He commissioned a new Katana and Wakizashi to be made for him but he would use them together with his new blade, preventing one blade from being overused and worn down ever again.
Caving into his partner Kiba's urgings to explore a temple ruin he cross reference located, they explored the place, avoided some scary traps such as a total saturation poison dart trap, spikes, and the works, they found what would have been the 'General's Armory' where they found an assortment of rusted, useless crap... but a preserved... huge... shiny blade. Course it was rigged but they managed to escape the trap... with a very unique blade. Hanse loves it E:
Well, most of the pictures you'll find on the Internet are replicas since that's a long lost technique and nobody knows for sure how it was made, but here's how it looks like:
=o wow... neat... I think I will let this sword be one then XD. Honestly the idea was "An ancient sword forged in unknown means by possibly human metalists using some kind of arcane method." In this story universe, Humans are kinda renowned to be insanely good with magic. It is their electricity you could say.
Is it a Damascus sword, by any chance?
