I applied to an army job over in Monterrey, California. Multimedia specialist, dealing with all sorts of art, design, 3D stuff. My kind of job. Perfect fit for me and my school experience is directed towards said job. So what happened? I wasn't referred. In short, rejected. But hey! At least they even BOTHER telling you that you are rejected. I've applied to several other places, same deal. They don't even tell you you've been rejected. This only adds to my frustration, and my parents don't make it any easier. I know really only one way to gain more confidence in applying for jobs: Make more -good- stuff. ... and I royally screwed up. The major bits were perfect. I was well dressed, positive, eager, showcased my skill and adaptability. The weak points were my difficulty in answering the questions and a hard time trying to cite possible experiences. Really the small bits I think might have killed my chance. Or I am just over reacting. In any case here is my verdict: They have a young college graduate who lives on site, extremely good with tech and computers, a great artist and knows how to deal with children (it is a Youth Service Center), and has some prior experience.
